From the designer:
Having used a variety of 60s I found myself wanting something in a similar form factor with just a little bit more. Instead of a traditional 65% layout, Aalto features a set of macro keys to the left which I find more convenient in day-to-day use. We tried a number of small adjustments in prototyping to optimise the typing experience by finding a balance between sound and feeling, and I believe that our final product satisfies this as best as possible. While the board features a lot of the more modern design ideas, assembly was quite deliberately kept as straightforward as possible - top mount has always been my preference, and despite the internal fastening design I believe that Aalto is a very easy board to put together. There’s a lack of visible branding on the board that I believe satisfies the vision of a very high-end typing instrument that’s focused on user experience first and foremost. The name is a nod to architect Alvar Aalto, as well as its Finnish translation to ‘wave’, which is reflected in the undulating corners. I hope you enjoy this keyboard as much as I do.
